Sunray is an NGO at the United Nations
Sunray Meditation Society is an international spiritual society dedicated to planetary peace. Its purpose is to manifest the Native American ideal of Circle Mind (the thought of all beings as relatives in the field of life), that we may create a world of harmony upon the Earth and throughout the Family of Life.
As you can see from the bar at the top of the page, or the right column, there are many Sunray communities in North America and Europe. We hope that you connect with one or more of them, for meditation practice, Peacekeeper Training, or just to find a kindred spirit.
Sunray's founder and spiritual director is Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo, Chief of the Green Mountain Band of the Ani Yunwiwa (Cherokee). She is the 27th generation lineage holder of the Ywahoo lineage. First recognized by HH Dudjom Rinpoche of the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and named Pema Sangzin Khandro. She is recognized as Pema Sangzin Khandro by the Drikung Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, and helped found the Vajra Dakini Nunnery as the first Tibetan nunnery in North America.
The Sunray Peace Village, located in Lincoln, Vermont, is where our home fires are located. The Adawee Temple hosts teaching year round. Every summer we host the Elders Gathering at the end of July. You can also support an exciting project to complete Elders documentaries that have already been filmed.
Sunray is a Non-Governmental Organization within the United Nations, concerned about the rights and well-being of Indigenous Peoples and others, and the health of the Earth.
There are many Teachings on our new website, including our study program entitled Deep Peace and the Healing of the World, and the Sunray Basic Meditation. You can also register for our Events here. We are on Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. Please Share what you like with your friends. We send out e-mails regularly. Sign up for our mailing list. You can check our archive to see past e-mails.
Finally, please consider making a tax-deductible Donation to Sunray Meditation Society or the Sunray Peace Village Land Trust, which oversees the Peace Village. We are a volunteer organization dependent on tithes and the kind support of friends to sustain our work.
The Annual Elders’ Gathering at the Sunray Peace Village is a multicultural celebration where people of many nations come together to pray, share and study ways that we can contribute to peacemaking in the world.
Each year we return to the sacred fire in the Arbor of the Peace Village to listen as Native Elders speak about ancient teachings and prophecies that will help prepare for the years to come.
The Annual Elders’ Gathering is a non-profit event hosted by Sunray Meditation Society, the Sunray Peace Village Land Trust, and the Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo, Chief of the Green Mountain Ani Yun Wiwa (Cherokee).

Elders will be July 30th-August 1st. Elders Workshops will be August 2nd and 3rd. Peacekeeper Training will be August 4th. All at the Peace Village.
One of the most exciting things about our new website is our ability to bring you Sunray teachings to your computer and MP3 player. Our 8-session program, Deep Peace and the Healing of the World, can now be downloaded in individual segments and saved to your computer, where you can transfer it to an I-Pod, your phone, or an MP3 player. Click here.
We also offer the Sunray Basic Meditation and Star Weaving practice for download. Click here.
You can link to the Womens' Wisdom in Tibetan Buddhism series with Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo and Khenmo Drolma of the Vajra Dakini Nunnery. Click here.
If you are a member of the Sunray gadugis, you can download and listen to one of Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo's monthly "Calling Together" teleconferences. We finally have prior recordings available. Please make sure you sign up for the website to gain access to these teleconferences. You might also send an e-mail to info@sunray.org to indicate you would like to be authorized as a gadugi member so we know you have signed up. Once we have turned on your authorization, go to Teachings Online in the blue Navigation Bar and look for the Gadugi Members only page. From there you can sign up for upcoming teleconferences or download saved ones.
The Peacekeeper Mission fulfils its purpose through individual and group study, training and practice to develop four fundamental qualities of mind:
Mindfulness: The ability to see things as they are, to be fully present in the moment, and to manifest right thought, right action. Peacekeeper Consciousness: Recognition of one’s responsibility and power to manifest peace through right relationship with all the family of life.
Caretaker Mind: Awareness of one’s privilege and duty to serve as a caretaker of this planet, honoring the Earth as a living being and sowing seeds of abundance and harmony unto seven generations.
Continuity of Mind: Understanding of cause and effect in determining the quality of one’s life, death and future lives, and in shaping the karma of groups, nations and the planet.
Peacekeeper Training is held in several Sunray communities throughout the year, including Boston, California, and Germany, as well as at the Peace Village the week after the Elders Gathering. You can find them listed on our Events calendar.
