{"id":17,"date":"2018-02-15T14:10:12","date_gmt":"2018-02-15T14:10:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sunray.org\/ngo\/?page_id=17"},"modified":"2020-03-18T02:43:55","modified_gmt":"2020-03-18T02:43:55","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sunray.org\/ngo\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>United Nations NGO Committee on Indigenous Rights<\/h1>\n<p>Sunray Meditation Society (Sunray) is an accredited member of Department of Global Communications of the United Nations (UN) and its Committee on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.\u00a0 This Committee has the goals of:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Educating Indigenous and other societies about Indigenous peoples, their history, culture, language, rights, aspirations, and contemporary issues of concern; and<\/li>\n<li>Supporting the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Committee\u2019s activities are focused on supporting the:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples;<\/li>\n<li>Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues;<\/li>\n<li>International Days, especially the International Day of the World\u2019s Indigenous Peoples;<\/li>\n<li>Universal Declaration of Human Rights;<\/li>\n<li>Agenda 2030 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals; and<\/li>\n<li>Education of the international community about the concerns and issues facing indigenous peoples.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sunray\u2019s work is aligned with and helps to advance 3 of the 15 Sustainable Development Goals.
