WORK-STUDY OPPORTUNITIES AT THE ELDERS GATHERING

Thank you for your interest in work-study opportunities for the 2012 Native American Elder’s Gathering at the Sunray Peace Village!  As in years past, this event has the potential to bring great benefit to our own lives and to the lives of all our relations near and far. This year we open to a new cycle of ceremonial activity, and we hope you will join us to honor the Traditional Elders and listen to their teachings around the wisdom fire.

The Elder’s Gathering is a multi-day, multi-faceted event hosted by the Sunray Meditation Society under the spiritual direction of Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo. Organizing and hosting an event such as this requires the hearts and hands of many people.

Work-study participants over the past 28 years have numbered in the hundreds. Many return year after year to be part of this meaningful and unique gathering, held in the beautiful Green Mountains.  Here, the land, the elements, the people, and Elders come together to share in the hard work and joyful expression of sacred ceremony, wisdom teachings, and community spirit. Many work-study opportunities are available for those who wish to attend the gathering and receive a discounted registration fee.

Examples of work-study roles include grounds keeping, running errands, food preparation, hospitality, clean-up, running the sound system, and other spur-of-the-moment needs that arise. Orientation and instruction will be provided as needed.

Full time work-study means 6 hrs per day for the 2-3 days attended -- in exchange for free registration, 3 meals and a free Peace Keeper training day, taught by Venerable Dhyani, on the Tuesday following the Gathering.

Part-time work-study is for 3 hours per day for a 50% reduction in registration fees ($77.50 off the three day fee.)  Free meals or Peacekeeper training are not included with part-time work-study positions.
