Letter of Support of the Indigenous Peoples March on 1.18.19

The Sunray Meditation Society stands with the Indigenous Peoples March on 1.18.19 and the collective of activists, organizers, tribal leaders, social entrepreneurs, artists, educators, innovators and change makers who are working to build the collective power of indigenous peoples, and communities and Nations.

We are honored to support the Indigenous Peoples March.

The Sunray Meditation Society is an international spiritual organization dedicated to planetary peace. Our mission is to preserve and share the teachings of the Peacemaker from the Tsalagi (Cherokee) spiritual traditions and the teachings of peacemaking from Tibetan Buddhism. The Sunray Peace Village is a sanctuary and place for sacred teachings, ceremony, contemplation and building the skills of peacemaking.

Sunray maintains good relationships with indigenous communities and elders around the world, and provides appropriate spiritual and financial support to them.

The Annual Sunray Elders Gathering brings together the peoples of many Nations to share in Sacred Ceremony and prayer, song and dance. Last year’s gathering heard teachings and stories relating the medicine of forgiveness, conservation of nature, and the awakening mind from Mohawk, Abenaki, Algonquin, Cherokee and Maya Mam Elders. Also present to share their wisdom are environmental scientists, astrophysicists, and peoples of the Tibetan Buddhist community. As the voices of beings of diverse backgrounds are heard and shared, deep connections are forged in the recognition of our underlying Unity.

The Sunray Meditation Society’s community offers prayer that the rights of all Indigenous peoples across Earth are immediately restored, and thrive forevermore. That all oppressors and perpetrators of harm recognize that, as we are one in this field of life, that ultimately the harm is inflicted upon themselves.

From the Four Sacred Directions, which support our minds and activities, from the heart of Mother Earth herself, may great currents of power wisdom and peace flow into our hearts.

It is said that shortly before Shakyamuni Buddha attained Liberation, an army of demons appeared to create doubt and fear in his mind. In response to these illusions, the Buddha touched the Earth with his right hand, summoning her as witness to his Awakening.

The Earth vibrated and roared “I bear you the witness.” And the demons immediately vanished into space.

May we each recall our direct access to this power.

The message of indigenous peoples across all nations makes clear that we are Her beloved children and Her fierce protectors.

We are so grateful for the great wisdom, grace, and beauty you reflect to Her people.

Sincerely,

Sunray Meditation Society

PS: The Sunray Community is invited to participate and support by seeking a solidarity march in their area here: INDIGENOUSPEOPLESMOVEMENT.COM

And by making special dedication, opening the shrine, lighting a lamp. Make offering of Cedar or Sage, opening a pathway that all beings may embody their natural wisdom light.
