New Moon Fire Celebration of the Ripe Corn

You are invited to Sunray Meditation Society and the Peace Village’s New Moon Fire on September 5, 2021. Lighting of the Fires will be at 9:00 AM following the Stick Dance. Please join us by offering your prayers, practices and heart resonance on zoom (link below). All are Welcome!
On this New Moon in September, we celebrate the Ripe Corn Ceremony by gathering together and offering 7 ears of ripe corn with practices and prayers. Cornmeal is offered to the directions, thanking the corn spirit and all of the elements, which enable the garden to grow. This time celebrates the kindness and the opportunity to show appreciation for this life force of the edible kingdom.
Especially important is the sharing of the goods from one another’s garden and from one another’s kitchen. Venerable Dhyani speaks frequently of the importance of eating together and that “this activity makes for a very sacred relationship, considering ourselves relatives. Food blessing and offering of food to the protectors is very important. Eating with the mindfulness of appreciation and respect for the life force with the food is very good. Before the action of eating pass the hands over the meal so that the vibrations can become one.”
Venerable Dhyani writes in her book 108 Quotations, A Treasury of Mystical Wisdom,
“We do not do ceremonies because of a cultural view.
We do ceremonies because our lives depend upon it.”
