Losar 2026, The Tibetan New Year of the Fire Horse

The local community gathered on Feb. 18, 2026 at the Peace Village Stupa in
Lincoln, Vermont to celebrate Losar, the Tibetan New Year by lighting butter
lamps and offering prayers. The photos are of the Stupa after lighting the lamps.

Losar 2026, the Tibetan New Year (2153) welcomes the year of Fire Horse beginning on February 18, 2026. This rare auspicious year occurring only once every 60 years, symbolizes immense energy, courage, speed and transformation. It is associated with forward motion and overcoming obstacles.

The Horse through its massive heart has a strong electromagnetic connection with both the stars and earth. This is an opportunity to ride through fields of awareness.
Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo

Preparation for this celebration is by extensive cleaning of the home and our sacred places which reminds people of all the blessings received. This is a way of saying thanks to nature and protectors for the positive in the passing year, inviting positive energy into the New Year, this year of the Fire Horse.

In Gratitude to our local community and all who joined in with prayers,

Rev. Tori
