Celebration of the Green Corn New Moon Fire

Dear Friends of Sunray near and far,
You are invited to Sunray Meditation Society and New Moon Fire at the Peace Village on July 27, 2025 at 7:00 AM ET. The celebration of the Green Corn occurs during the 41st Annual Native American Elders and Youth Gathering July 25-27, 2025.
The Sacred Fires will be lit at sunrise on Friday July 25 and continue through the weekend. At 7:00 am July 27, we gather at the Fires as the Elders make opening prayers of the day.
The Green Corn Moon called Tihaluhiyi in Cherokee is the time of celebrating the first signs of the “corn in tassel”. The Green Corns are a most special gift as they remind us of the emerging growing season. It is a time of celebration and joy for the entire community, celebrating the maturing fruits of the group’s endeavors.
After the opening prayers, special dances, Basic Meditation and other practices are offered. We are grateful to the Earth and join with the theme of this Elders Gathering,
Light is Consciousness
All matter is conscious, and all is interdependent.
This year’s theme invites us to remember what indigenous wisdom has shared for millennia and what some scientists now affirm: that light is not only physical energy–it is the very expression of consciousness itself. Everything that exists, from the smallest seed to the farthest star, is made of this luminosity.
All are Welcome to join by zoom or in person.
For those from afar, you may like to select a specific candle that can become your dedicated New Moon Candle. When the Home Fire is lit in the Arbor, connect your heart to that Fire, light your candle on your shrine.
Join with us offering your prayers, dance and meditation practice for the benefit of all beings.
Guided by Venerable Dhyani Ywahoo, we celebrate the traditions of the Green Mountain Ani Yun Wiwa as the gateway through which Ywahoo Lineage teachings are shared.
All are welcome to join us at the Peace Village (following CDC guidelines) or by lighting the Fire on your home shrine and joining in the practices on zoom.
Note To Our Zoom Friends:
Our camera will bring you into the Sacred Arbor on the New Moon Fires with a single stationary camera view of the Central Fire.
There will be no zoom moderator.
This change supports the sacred ground, Medicine and prayers within the Arbor, encouraging a practice of quiet focus for all.
The Basic Practices will be offered by the officiating Minister in the Arbor. Please join in by viewing the Fire and participating in your practices throughout transmission interruptions.
