Celebration of Solar Eclipse

Bright greetings!
All are welcome to join as we open the Temple of the Adawees and offer practice between 1:30 and 5:30 during the solar eclipse on April 8, 2024.
May it be a cause for vast happiness!

They were not outside during the time of the eclipse, and there were astrologers or astrophysicists who knew the cycle and knew that this would happen. And so people are invited to take the children and the elders and everyone to be indoors during that time and to make prayers for the dance of life. Prayers for the sun’s return, and to listen, to listen.
And then there is a text for those of us who also practice Buddhism. There is a text of Samantabhadra’s aspiration, The Prayer of Kuntuzangpo which is also good to recite during such times. Wherever we are, our thought, word, and action is a song of celebration in the circle of life. And so in traditional times, such darkening of the sun or hiding of the sun, people went indoors and thought about the good they’ve received and the good they shall offer. Because there’s this sense of the sun goes away, we must let her know that we are grateful for the light she shares.”

At 1:30 Dr. Rudy Schild, a Harvard& Smithsonian astronomer, an esteemed elder and dear friend of Sunray who has graced our Elders Gatherings for many years, will give a talk In the Temple of the Adawees on the eclipse event.
At 2:00 Rev. David Walker will begin a silent Meditation in the Sunray temple. All are welcome to Join for all or part of the time – whatever you are able.
We respectfully request that there will be no unnecessary travel at the Peace Village at the meditation time of 1:30-5:30 pm.
